Welcome to the Perton Middle School Website
I am delighted to welcome you to our school website, and I hope that you will find all of the information that you need.
Perton Middle School is situated in the attractive South Staffordshire village of Perton on the outskirts of Wolverhampton. The school is focussed on developing its students for the next phase of education and adulthood in a secure environment.
Perton Middle School aims to be outstanding in everything that we do, working in federation with Codsall Community High School, which was rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted in May 2011.
I believe the school should be an enjoyable experience for all students regardless of their ability. It is our aim to inspire and challenge everyone in an environment that makes learning interesting and fun and which meets the needs of every student.
In order for the school to become outstanding we need to continue to work closely with students, staff, parents, governors, the community and build on our close working relationship with local First Schools.
We want you to be able to access all of the information you need on this web site, so if there is something you can't find please email us so that we can continue to improve our communication.

Codsall Community High School one of the best in the country for student progress at GCSE
Codsall Community High School has received national recognition for the value it adds to students' achievements at GCSE.
A recent in-depth analysis of official Department for Education data on all state-funded schools in England by SSAT, the national schools' membership organisation for improvement and collaboration, identified Codsall Community High School's success.
The school has qualified for an SSAT Educational Outcomes Award by being in the top 20% of schools nationally for progress made by pupils between their key stage 2 results at primary school and their GCSE results at age 16.
The school has been invited to receive their award at a regional celebration ceremony hosted by SSAT at Waverley School in Birmingham on 04 June.
Sue Williamson, Chief Executive of SSAT said:
'Codsall Community High School should be congratulated for their exceptional achievement. They have proved themselves to be leading the field in improving GCSE outcomes for their students. There is so much good practice that this school could share, and I hope many schools will join us at the celebration ceremony for the chance to network and share strategies with award-winning schools.
'These results are testament to the commitment and hard work of the students, teachers and leadership team at Codsall Community High School, and show what can be achieved when skilled teachers have high expectations and ambition for every young person. I am proud that this school is a member of the SSAT network.'

This is the world’s largest children’s Christmas project, run by the Christian relief and development organisation Samaritan's Purse. This year uur students generously donated over 35 shoe boxes to the appeal. We would just like to say a very big thank you to all parents.

Staffordshire Feeling Safe Survey
Staffordshire is a safe place to live.
Even though Staffordshire is one of the safest counties to live in, more people are worried about crime more than they should be. This misconception is worse in some areas than others and we want to find out why this is and do something about it.
Your voice is critical to make sure we are tackling what matters to you. Please spend just a minute filling in the information below - we're listening.

Charity Fun Run
On the afternoon of Wednesday 22nd during our 'Healthy Lifestyles Activity Week' we organised a sponsored charity fun run, this involved students completing a course set up around the school premises. And to ensure maximum impact, and to make it much more fun, we thought we'd do it wearing our pyjamas!
Students completed the course with the aim of raising money by collecting sponsorship from friends and family for their chosen house charities . This gave them the opportunity to work together as teams competing against the other houses.
This year our house charities, and amounts raised were:
- Java - Acorns Childrens Hospice - £232.30
- Matrix - Promise Dreams - £225.00
- Oberon - Compton Hospice - £331.10
- Vector - Cancer Research - £191.50
The current amount raised weighs in at £979.90! This is a fantastic achievement, and all the students should be commended for their enthusiasm for such good causes. A very big thank you also to all the parents that have supported this event!
Perton Middle School will have an Ofsted inspection on 13-14th June 2013

Comic Relief 2013
On Friday the 15th of March the students at Perton Middle School dressed as their favourite book character to both celebrate World Book Day, and to help raise money for Comic Relief.
Throughout the day we had sponsored silences, excellent costumes, some fun games and competitions, as well as the 'Great Perton Bake Off', where students made their own (delicious!) cakes to sell for charity. Even the kitchen got into the Red Nose spirit by making special Red Nose Day cupcakes!
At the end of the day we counted up a total of £455.80 raised for charity. We would like to thank all the students and parents who made this Red Nose Day so successful, your enthusiasm made this a truly sensational Red Nose Day.

Science and Engineering Week - 18th-22nd March
As part of science and engineering week, our year 5 students recently took part in a bridge making challenge with year 13 students from Codsall High School.
The task involved creating the strongest bridge possible from just 4 sheets of A4 paper, and a metre of sticky tape. The strongest bridge held 800g, with second and third place both holding 600g.
There is No Planet B!
Stafford Borough's third annual environmental art exhibition and competition, 'There is No Planet B!' took place at St Chad's Church, Stafford during February 2013. The event was ran by 'Sustainability Matters' in partnership with Stafford Borough Council and the Stafford Borough Eco-schools Network, supported by St Chad's Church, Transition Town Stafford and Konnektiv Drama and Theatre Arts.
Schools from all across the county took part, displaying art which inspires us to think about our environment and the planet. We were awarded the ‘Best School Display’ for our entry using recycled materials to create heads of endangered species by The Mayor of Stafford Borough. Four students attended the closing ceremony to collect the certificate and prize voucher with our Art teacher, Mrs Chandler.
The £50 prize voucher was spent at Wolseley Bridge nature reserve, on the outskirts of Stafford. We purchased a Robin/Wren bird box, a Tit bird box, a beautiful metal Indian wall artefact (all of which will be put up around the school), a Usbourne Birds pocket book and a AA Nature and birds handbook.
